So I import grib data but see nothing on screen. The weather function menu does open.

I then tried the grib data via SAILDOCS but it will not accept my syntax for the Great Lakes region.

Regardless I can get grib from other sources, but never see the data after importing. The functionality for requesting wind, wave, temp is greyed out.

Also the HELP states that open grib will grab the data from MAIL APP but this is not true either (even with SAILDOCS) as it must be downloaded to a location from mail app and then imported.

I"m very confused on the true process, requirements and limitation as it pertains to GPSNAVX.

EDIT: I cannot request from within GPSNAVX. So I get grib data from other sources, but doesn't show...so two issues. Cannot request and cannot see.

Does GPSNAVX have a feature shown that only works in ENC?
GPSNavX can request GRIBs, but you must set up the OS X Mail application to send emails. GPSNavX will use the very first email account in the OS X Mail Preferences "Accounts" to make the request to SailDocs. Also keep in mind GRIB data is on 1/2 degree increments so you must open a chart that covers at least 3 degrees by 3 degrees before making the request. Suggest using a small scale Great Lakes chart to request from and view.

Thanks. They key was the chart I was opening was not big enough. That solved the issues...

SailDocs has all sorts of info about GRIBS. See here how to request it ..

One request will lead you to more requests that can be made.
