A few weeks ago Sunlight viewable displays for the Mac were introduced on the GPSNavX website (http://www.gpsnavx.com), with a special introductory price for the DIBMac-15 High Bright display. This is a reminder that the special ends on May 15.

Why are sunlight-viewable screens always so expensive? The cheapest I've found are around the £1000 mark ($1700)

I realise that the prices you're quoting are "competitive" for the specification. However, are there any smaller units, around the 8" size? Us smaller boat-owners don't have the space or the requirement for a 15" display! It wouldn't have to be particularly high resolution...
High prices, but the clarity even in direct sunlight is simply amazing. If I was outfitting a boat I would go with a 15" or 12", GPSNavX and the Rusalkasoft instrument and performance software. In the end it would be less than a dedicated instrument system.

Has anyone got a working URL for this RusalkaSoft site? http://www.laurence.com/rusalka/ appears to be dead.

I've tried it yesterday and today and the site works.
Me too... there is http://www.rusalka.net but that just redirects to the URL you mentioned.

Wish it worked here. I can't even bring it up using the IP number. Thanks.
I'll be trying out Rusalka's Instruments software this weekend, so I'll post a review and some screenshots next week.

In the meantime, I'll email you a zipped version of their homepage.
