iNavX is very impressive. I don't have an iPhone but am about to get an iPod Touch. Is is possible to use iNavX on an iPod Touch with locations provided by an external GPS receiver via BlueTooth?
If not now, is this feature being considered for a future version?
Thanks in advance,
Bob
Apple does not expose the Bluetooth API to third party developers. So far its use is limited to wireless headsets. If that were to change, then yes, iNavX would take advantage of Bluetooth GPS receivers.
Thanks for both posts in answer to my question. I suspect that Apple may not want to encourage Bluetooth GPS connections since that would tend to take away from the iPhone market. But we can hope!
As to the Digi Connect device, it is not cheap ($369) and appears to need a serial connection whereas my GPSmart device only does Bluetooth. It would seem that I could use your GPSNavX on my iBook (below decks), receiving GPS from my GPSMart and having an iPod Touch in the cockpit. Thinking about it, that might be an elegant solution since I can do route planning on the iBook at home and then navigate with the iPod Touch in my hand. Does this make sense or did I miss something?
Best regards
Bob
Roger. Thanks for the clarification.
