what I have todo, when I want to connect AIS to iNavX.
What hardware and or software is needed.

First scenario:
because I have a good look at the harbour I set it up at home and connect over internet.

Second scenario:
Or I put the reciever into the cockpit and connect directly.

The first solution is more charming because I can reach it even when i am not on board.

Either scenario works the same as far as iNavX is concerned. All iNavX needs is an IP address and a port to receive AIS NMEA data.

MacENC can be setup to be a server for NMEA data over IP..

So you would connect the AIS receiver to your Mac, then use MacENC to broadcast the NMEA data.

In order to make a 'public' server you could connect anywhere you had a cell connection you would need a static IP address.

Is it possible to connect also to the shipplotter server or to a local installation of shipplotter?

I am not familiar with that software, but if it can output AIS NMEA via IP then it would work with iNavX. On Windows one can also use GPSGate to transmit any NMEA data via IP.
