- Paul Martini - May 22, 2010 Hello All: We are exploring the possibility of doing a Video Mirror of our Macbook running ENC from the Nav Station below deck to a remote display at the wheel in the cockpit. Can anyone recommend / suggest: 1) Is this concept feasible? 2) If yes, a quality waterproof / weatherproof display 8 to 10 inches in size? 3) Is it best to hardwire the setup from the Macbook using the Mini Display Port? Appreciate any insight you can provide. Cheers - macsolve - May 22, 2010 iPad with VNC client over wifi perhaps? - Paul Martini - May 22, 2010 We have discussed using an Ipad as wireless would then be possible, but we have concerns about the Waterproof / Weather proof issue as the display will be subject to everything from brilliant sunshine to wind / rain / hail, whatever mother nature can and will throw at it. - bobetter - May 23, 2010 It's totally feasible. You will probably end up getting a VGA monitor so you'll need to get an adapter for the Mini Display Port. I'm in the same boat as you are. Refitting a new purchase...a custom cutter rigged pilot house. We've ripped out all the old electronics to be replaced by new. We have 3 stations to set up in a logical way (navstation, pilot house, and outside helm) I'm a mac enthusiast and will be using MacENC and learning along the way. I'm interested in finding out what has worked the best for others out there and what they are integrating with their GPSNavX & MacENC. - moonlightsailor - June 19, 2010 I'm looking for a 12 volt monitor that I can use as a mirror for my macbook pro. Anyone have some suggestions? I'm going to have the laptop at the nav station and the mirror in the pilot house with wireless mouse and keyboard. |
