- GPSNavX - June 13, 2010

iNavX will use the built in magnetic compass of the iPhone and iPad for orienting the position icon, course up chart rotation, and the compass banners. Unfortunately the compass is susceptible to interference not limited to the angle of the device (i.e. tilted). iNavX can use COG: (Course Over Ground) instead of the compass (HDGSmile for the orientations. In order to have iNavX use the COG:, simply turn "OFF" HDG: in the "Setup" for "Instruments".

Another option is to attempt to correct the compass error. In the "Setup" for "Instruments", the "Compass Deviation" can be adjusted.
