MacENC vs. GPSNavX - Guest - May 5, 2006 I am happily using GPSNavX, but should I get MacENC? Am I right in understanding that if I used MacENC, I could throw away GPSNavX and happily use MacENC for both raster & vector charts? Is GPSNavX better in any way at handling raster charts than MacENC is? Thanks Tom - GPSNavX - May 5, 2006 I would only recommend moving to MacENC if you primarly want to use S-57/S-63 vector charts. MacENC does display raster charts, but the focus is really vector charts. Also MacENC takes more computing power. I recommend at minimum a 1 GHZ G4 with 512MB RAM and OS X 10.3.9 (10.4.6 is recommended) While MacENC can use raster charts, it is possible to use both GPSNavX and MacENC at the same time sharing the same GPS. This lets one window display vector charts and another show a raster chart. |
