- cyberhusky - June 22, 2009 here are 2 interesting aaps for the iPhone Hurricane http://kittycode.com/products/hurricane/ and Bombora http://www.bomborasurf.com/ Regards Manou - ccp_merc - August 26, 2009 Hi all, I have recently released MelbWinds SydWinds HobartWinds AdelaideWinds and will soon release BrisWinds and PerthWinds which extract the latest wind and windforecasts from the BOM for the iPhone. I would be interested to hear what people think of them. cheers Chris - IndepthNavigation - October 31, 2009 SailTimer is another new app for sailors using iPhone and iPod touch. Standard GPS's from all manufacturers do not account for the fact that sailboats zig-zag, when giving you the ETA. On some GPS chartplotters, the ETA actually goes blank when you stay on a tack for too long. SailTimer solves this problem, showing you the optimal tacking angles, and the Tacking Time to Destination. The SailTimer functions are also available with the full navigation and charting capabilities in MacENC (and for PCs using SailCruiser from NavSim.com). And now you can also Go To waypoints using Google Maps with SailTimer on your iPhone or iPod. An unexpected benefit is that I can be talking with someone in a marina or restaurant about a certain piece of water and call it up on the phone. We can shared info and insight and never get up from the table. - captsmoe - December 22, 2009 here's video for the AquaLights app... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqtsnbNd8Uc - ActiveCaptain - January 14, 2010 Just had to mention that I'm liking ShralpTide a lot. It's really nice when you want a quick tide check for locations near you. It does the tide calculation offline so you don't need a data connection to use it. Best of all, it's free. - GPSNavX - February 18, 2010 http://slsailing.com/?p=2444 - bobetter - February 25, 2010 Good iPhone article in Cruising World... http://www.cruisingworld.com/gear-and-systems/gear-and-systems/isailor-1000081116.html - GPSNavX - March 1, 2010 StarPilot has been ported to iPhone/iPod Touch. Will soon be available on the app store.. http://criticalalpha.blogspot.com/2010/03/celestial-navigation-with-iphone-touch.html - GPSNavX - March 1, 2010 http://www.starpilotllc.com/products/spip.htm - MarkCherrington - May 31, 2010 ccp_merc Wrote:Hi all,Chris: This is a nice program (I bought Sydwinds). It's a good complement to Seabreeze and the BOMsite (which I have on my front screen). Only thing I'd suggest is that the link to the forecasts needs some formatting to differentiate the different regions and days; having it all running on in the same font makes it a bit hard to read. Just bold text for the regions and the days would make all the difference. |
