Hi everyone I am a newbie to navigation having just got my first cabin boat 28 ft. Trying to use inavx and finding it has some issues or not obvious settings have done all the tutorials. Every waypoint I add will only change name using a google voice recognition pop up I can never get a ketboard to type it it. Is there a way to disable the voice recognition or just get a keyboard. Google never gets it even close to right.
Thanks in advance
I am boating on great lakes in canada and using a android tablet

Hello,

We have developed a deep penetrating electromagnetic FORWARD & LEEWAY speed log. The NMEA 0183 (VMVBW) is not currently supported by iNavX, so we are looking to utilize the TXT feature that is supported. Documentation on this is tough to come by. I would like to display FWD, LEE, and boat ANGLE as a TXT message in 3 separate "instrument" labels. Or, rotate the 3 in one instrument label. Updates of the field(s) would be about 1x per second. So far, I can show one message one time.

Any help would be appreciated! Great app BTW!

I have written an e-mail to INavx developers about adding a feature. I did receive a positive response from Inavx and I would like to follow that up by sending the developers some feed back about that feature. I am hoping enough users will think it is a good idea that INAVX developers will implement it.

Requested feature:

Tacking Vector:
A vector that extends out 90 deg (or adjustable) on each side of the boat icon. When you are sailing up wind to a mark when the tack vector touches your mark, you know it is time to tack at a glance. It should be on a toggle where you can turn it off.

My old Garmin gps has a similar feature that would give you a course correction, it will say L or R then deg, when the degree was at or near 90, it was time to tack over.

We use fixed points for the majority of races in our area. Most of the marks are out of visible sight of each other. This feature can also benefit cruising sailors.

Please post your thoughts about this feature. If you think it would be useful or not, and if that may sway you to pick inavx over another app.

thanks

We have a race using fixed points each Thursday night.

This was the first time i used INAVX on my IPAD. It worked great, but...

every 30-60 seconds it would recenter the map on the boats position, and i could not see the way-points i had designated as the finish line. Our finish is between 2 channel markers, and seeing as i could only follow the vector to the mark I designated as the finish. I sailed to the wrong one, (basicly i was trying to go between the wrong 2 markers) It cost me 5 sec and I ended up as second place. I am not upset about the second place. (better than i have ever done)

My question:
how do i keep the map from re-centering on the boat every min or so, also even when we would scroll the map out to show the entire course leg it would zoom back in.
these are the settings i i have active in instruments, and on the chart page
