How do I connect my west marine ais 1000 to Mac ENC?

- GPSNavX - December 17, 2010

You would connect the data cable to a USB adapter such as this one ..

http://www.gpsnavx.com/html/datacable.html

Once that is done, install the linked FTDI driver, plug in the USB adapter to your Mac and start MacENC. Select the port USBSerial-XXX, rate 4800 in the GPS panel Settings drawer. Select "Use GPS Port" in the AIS/RADAR panel Settings drawer.

The AIS1000 will act as both GPS and AIS receiver for MacENC.
