Color GRIBs available in GPSNavX/MacENC? - cyberhusky - November 13, 2006 Hello I'm palying around with the Request GRIB menu in GPSNavX (4.45) and I like this function. But I think some features would be very useful: 1) clicking on the requested GRIB file in the mail application opens the WorldChart. It would be more useful to have GPSNavX open the GRIB file with the actually opened chart. I know I can open the GRIB file via the GRIB Open menu, but the other way one doesn't need to save the file to specific drawer and have to reopen the GRIB file. 2) another helpful feature would be to have a hint (name) displayed as to what GRIB file is just opened (Wave heights, Air- Sea-Temp, Air Pressure etc.) 3) GRIB files showing precipitation forecasts 4) the possibility to request GRIB Data inside GPSNavX for a given date (OK we already now d have forecast for some days and more than 3 days forecasts aren't very reliable, but having weather data over a longer period allows for better journey planning ;-) 5) my last request concerning weather would be to have some color like the screenshots from the SCANNAV application for windows. http://www.scannav.com/GB/Doc/Grib.htm#_Toc73597212 with the ability to have set transparenncy for the overlayed GRIB Data. There's also the possibility in ScanNav to have GRIB Data interpolated, if not all GRIDS are available http://www.scannav.com/GB/Doc/Grib.htm#_Toc73597221 The last part of my requests aren't firectly related to weather data. Isn't it possible to tides integrated into GPSNavX like in this picture showing the currents and tides strength and directions: http://www.scannav.com/GB/Doc/Currents.htm#_Toc104741737 My last idea would be to have the possibilty to load free Landsat satellite pictures https://zulu.ssc.nasa.gov/mrsid/mrsid.pl Thx a lot. |
