Charts for Caribbean - gilsurf - March 5, 2007

I am new MacENC and GPSNavX. I am looking for accurate charts for the Caribbean and understand that vector is much more accurate, correct?

I know for the US Caribbean, ENCs are a free download. But what about the Bahamas, Leewards and Windwards? Suggestions? S-57 pack from chartworld?

Quote:1I08001 Caribbean Sea - North West Atlantic
Private dENC:
S-57 data compatible with the IHO ENC Product Specification, created and issued by a private enterprise, packed in directENC format by the distributor.

Thanks!
Gil

You have two choices for Caribbean charts for MacENC:

BSB Raster from Maptech..

OR S-57 ENC Vector. If you do obtain them from ChartWorld you will want to follow these steps to install them..

Oft times ENC vector charts are just digitizations of the existing paper charts, but the belief is they will be updated more often because it is much easier to change a database then a human generated chart.
