Charts for Turkey - ginginsman - August 13, 2007 We'll be spending a week sailing on the southern Turkish coast this fall and I'd like to get charts to work with either GPSNavX and/or MacENC. It looks to me as if the Maptech ones will work with NavX. Can anyone else offer other suggestions? The UK Maptech version says "This CD contains German Hydrographic Office charts of the title area in Maptech/BSB 4.0 format." Anyone know if the charts are *written* in German? Thanks, Charts for Turkey - macuser - August 15, 2007 I've been using ENCs from http://www.chartworld.com/ with MacENC. Goto "Shop" then "Official S-57" and select "Turkey" from popup menu. There are all charts you may need. And also, you can try "Greece" for Greek islands. I do not recall if there is a procedure for enabling use of S63 charts in MacENC. We need a key, no? You only need is to register to ChartWorld using your "User Permit" displayed in the Chart Manager window of MacENC. Do you know what might have gone wrong here? - macuser - August 17, 2007 There must be a file like; Yourboatname_.......zip.prm.zip If there is a file ".zip.prm", then add .zip to its name as suffix(do not delete .prm). Then you will have a .zip file. Double click on it and will see ; Permit.txt, Units.txt and a unix exec file. Hope this helps. - ginginsman - August 17, 2007 macuser Wrote:There must be a file like; I guess something went wrong then, as the file name does not include the boat name I registered in the account details. I downloaded two files: TR1002_DATA_7_8_2.ZIP.S63 7CWORLD_DATA_1_0_1.ZIP.S63 Perhaps I need to ask Chartworld for some assistance. - macuser - August 17, 2007 OK, goto ChartWorld page and login. Then click on Account from menu then navigate to "Installation. You must see your infos'. You will see some letters and numbers under "ENC" menu. ( ex. DC2873 or something like it) If you click on that numbers, will see the charts you bought and "Chart key file". About 3KB. That's the file you need, download and open. - GPSNavX - August 18, 2007 We have put together a guide about using the ChartWorld ENCs.. http://www.gpsnavx.com/pdf/ChartWorld.pdf - ginginsman - August 18, 2007 GPSNavX Wrote:We have put together a guide about using the ChartWorld ENCs..Except that when I bought my Turkey ENC, the file with the permit.txt included in it (the "Chart Access Key file") was sent to me automatically in an email, and could also be downloaded with the charts, but it was not automatically included in the chart file which seems to be what your instructions say (unless I have misunderstood?). - Enzo - January 28, 2008 You can try Maptech, buy it at Italian "nauticard" http://www.nauticard.it/, (CDMED08 SIDE A - CD con 91 carte digitali: Coast of Turkey and Eastern Greek Islands) and than register with the file "register" on gpsnavx site. - Bimmeroa - April 13, 2008 http://turquoisesail.blogspot.com/ This site is probably the best for this topic. Has some very nice pictures as well! |
