I can not really see the point of mcenc. Mcenc surely can read also vector charts, but they are so expensive and hard to get hold of. Or? I don not get it.
I got these tsunamis charts on another windows computer, but I can not use them! But they are these kind of vector charts. And so on.

If you could tell us where you need charts for, I could assist you in procuring them. Charts range in price from free to a few hundred US$. There are dozens of chart formats. MacENC is compatible with BSB Raster and S-57/S-63 ENC vector.

best/cheapest solution for UK charts IMHO is the Maptech UK & Ireland library - £85 for the lot

Does annoy me also that to get vector charts for the UK you end up paying through the teeth - potentially several times, for something we, as tax payers have paid for to have created. Over the years I've had to re-buy the same charts several times because I've changed equipment
