Title: Replacing ENCs?
#1
When an ENC is first issued the filename looks like this: EA200001.000 (with .000 at the end).

As it is updated the suffix is incremented so it look like this: EA200001.026 (for example).

My question: Can we trash the old files when an ENC is updated? I think I tried it once and ran into trouble. Is the .000 file necessary? I assume the intermediate files (.001, .002, .003, etc) can be discarded. Is that right?

Yes, the .000 still is required as the .00X are update files that modify the .000 file at load time. Do not delete any of the .00X files.

In response to Outstripp and GPS NavX,

as said above, the *.000 file is the main file.
If you receive a new update, ***.005 for example, the software will first look into your ENC directory, looking for *.000, *.001, *.002, 3 and 4, before installing the 5th update.

This is why you have to keep all the updates, as they make the ***.000 up to date .
