I believe you need to install the FTDI driver and then restart GPSNaVX or MacENC..

http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP/MacO...v2_2_9.dmg

Then select "Connect" on the "GPS" menu
Select the port USBSerial-XXXX in the GPS panel Settings drawer
