Title: NEMA 1083 Output Directions Needed
#1
I purchased a Nasa Marine Clipper GPS Repeater to hook up to my Standard Horizon GX2100 radio so as to be able to see COG, Track, Bearing, and Distance to Waypoint from the helm while racing. Unfortunately after purchasing the GPS Repeater, I found out that the support tech who told me that the radio did output this information was wrong and that it only sends out current position.

Since I use GPSNavX on a G4 ibook as a chart plotter while racing, I thought I would connect the computer to the GPS Repeater and all would be well. I tried to set this up last week and was not able to get any readings from the GPS Repeater, so I know that I did not do this correctly and I need some help.

I used a Keyspan USB-Serial adaptor from the computer connected to a Ray Marine Serial PC Cable, to hook up to the GPS Repeater. The GPS Repeater has three wires, power, ground, and input. After hooking up the power and ground wires to my instrument circuit, I tried hooking the input wire to the pin 2 wire and then the pin 3 wire when the pin 2 wire didn't work with no luck.

My only conclusion is that I did not set up the GPSNavX program properly. Can you help me with directions on how to set up the program correctly to output the data I need?

Thanks,

Gary
