Title: Keyspan 19HS
#1
Been using this on my old Powerbook G4. With GPS NavX and Mac Enc. Now have both running on my MPPro - Lion.
The Help Screens on both of these show links to get the drivers for the Keyspan 19HS. But when I click on these links, I get NOTHING.

I've tried everywhere on the net to get the driver for my OS10.7

Ric - do you have this driver pkg. that you could send to me?

Or where I can get it?

Jack,

Download the driver from the Support tab on this page:
Keyspan 19HS driver for Mac OSX 10.7

See the last item in the list of "Software & Manuals"

OK, i used the zip file, installed it in my applications folder, hooked my Garmin GPS map478 to my MacBook pro running lion, started GPSNavx, Clicked to start the GPS, and nothing happens. This procedure worked fine on my Powerbook G4. Any suggestions?

Jack,

Make sure your Garmin GPS output is set to NMEA 0183.

In the GPS panel, click "Settings". Set the "Port" drop down menu to "USA19H1d1P1" or "KeySerial". Also set the "Type" to Garmin or Other and the "Rate" to 4800.

If these (or similar) names don't show in the "Port" menu, check your Network System Preferences (under the Apple menu) to ensure that the Keyspan driver is properly installed and configured.

Jack,

I should have asked you how you installed it too. It is not installed by copying the downloaded zip file to your Applications folder.

Instead, double click the zip file, Keyspan-Driver-for-Model-UPR-112G-USA-49WG-USA-28XG-USA-19HS-(MacOSX10.7.x Beta), and then double click the package file, keyspanUSAdrvr_v2.6.b5.pkg.

Jade - I discovered that my problem was that there are 2 USB ports. I had it plugged into the one farthest from the screen. When I switched to the one closest to the screen, all was fine. Which now comes the next problem: When I was running NavX and ENC on my old G4 Pbook, I had two Keyspan 19HS's plugged into the two separate USB ports. One was for the GPS, the other for the AIS receiver.

It seems that this driver for Lion only works for one USB port. I'm trying to figure how to be able to get the AIS to also be recognized. Would it work if I use a USB HUB & plugged both the 19HS's into it & then plug the HUB into the Mac?

If your answer is NO, I guess my question would now be, how do others get GPS & AIS on a MBPro Lion? The problem with this is that they are different baud rates? And can the Mac receive these at the same time thru one USB port?

I appreciate any knowledge you might share with this. Your past advice has been great.

Jack,

You've got me there. The only thing I can think of is to shut down your computer; plug the Keyspan cable into the USB port that isn't working and then restart your computer. If this works, try the same process again but with two cables. In this state, the list of ports should include USA19H1d1P1 and USA19H1d1P2 (as I recall).

In MacENC, there are two checkboxes in the AIS/Radar panel under "Settings" to use the GPS port, Instruments port or set a different Port for the AIS.

Although my GPS outputs at 4800 BAUD, I have the port set to 115,200 and it appears to work alright. So either use another port, the Instruments port, or try adjusting the Rate on the GPS panel.

Hope this helps.
