>I lost my hard drive do to magnet in bottom of GPS.
Thanks for that alert. I've been lucky since I usually just toss it into a pocket of my laptop case.
Does anyone have suggestions for a safe way to carry or neutralize the magnet for transport?

The magnet can be removed using a small screw driver to pry it out.

I'm sitting here with a small, flat-bladed screwdriver, a knife, a putty-knife, breaker bar, caustic acid, plastic explosives, TNT . . . well, you get the idea. Little bugger isn't coming out. Any other ideas?
Okay, got it. Never mind.

I bought a USGlobalstat USB 353 a couple of years ago and kept it in it's box and when I go to the boat just placed it with my 15" Dell LCD monitor that I carry in a small hand bag. Pismo stays in it's computer bag. Ok that doesn't help you now Charles but if you still have the box that your GPS came in I would store it in their till needed.
Take care and safe boating.
