What about a demo version that only works for a certain amount of time or only with certain charts? I'd like to see how it works and looks before spending $50...

Jeff,
Apple's official policy is not to accept demo versions of apps and the ONLY way to get iNavX on your iPhone is to buy it via the Apple's iPhone apps store. Apple is the gate keeper of what ends up and stays on an iPhone.
