Hello All,
MaXGate, a popular port of our XGate/XWeb compression e-mail and web service for windows, has been ported to the Mac with an expected release date of some time in April. The software is maturing nicely and is currently being tested in the field by our first wave of beta testers. The software is working well in the field with users using it with Pactor/XNet, Globalstar, Iridium, and Verizon cell phones.
The Mac version is a fully functional version of XGate which dials, connects, sends/receives e-mail, and disconnects. XGate supports full duplex, compression, and mid file restart for very fast and efficient communication over limited bandwidth devices.
We are currently expanding our beta test program to include a wider sample of users. Please contact us if you are interested in testing XGate. Our expectation is that these users will be able to find and help resolve issues on the mac. They should be willing to expend some effort helping to identify issues and propose possible solutions.
We currently have support for Iridium, Globalstar, and Pactor HF XNet although any device with a modem script should work. We also have support for FTDI and Keyspan USB to serial adapters. XGate will run on ppc and i386 macs running OS X 10.4
Here is what you will be able to do with XGate are
a) Use the mac to send/receive compressed based e-mail with mid file restart through your satellite phone or pactor modem.
b) use GPSNavX's MacWX to request weather data
c) Mail filtering, big mail management, sms, and all other XGate features.
a full description of xgate an its features can be viewed on our general xgate page at http://www.globalmarinenet.com/email.htm
Interested parties should contact me directly.
Thanks,
