Correct. BSB charts are in raster format. I am not aware of any dedicated chart plotter (other than Maptech's) that works with raster charts.
Chartplotters use vector charts and as you mention they use proprietary format vector charts. For example Garmin Bluecharts will only work with Garmin chart plotters.
