Title: managing charts
#1
I have two corrupted charts that I would like to remove from the program. I see in the chart manager that I can remove the entire folder of charts, but not individual charts.

In the filesystem, the chart names don't match or correspond in any way I can determine to the names listed in the chart manager. How can I figure out which charts to delete?

And relatedly, I know that I have some multiple charts covering a single area (and not just different scales, I mean identical charts by different creators). How do I choose between them, or inactivate one over the other, etc?

much thanks,

Your question prompts the addition of an enhancement in the next release of MacENC. A tooltip of the specific chart file path in the MacENC Chart Manager. From that tooltip you will be able to find the corrupt or duplicate files in Finder.

Greetings,

I have a new Mac mini and have downloaded the MacENC trial version.

The program automatically loaded my charts but when I access 'Chart Manager' the charts are listed alphabetically and not by chart number.

I find this annoying as I am used to knowing the charts by number, not by name.

Is there any way to sort the Chart Manager by chart number?

Thanks,

Larry H

You can enter the chart number or a portion of it in the search field of the Chart Manager and MacENC will list the chart(s) with that number. Keep in mind that NOAA ENCs do not use a chart numbering system like the NOAA RNCs (scanned paper charts).

GPSNavX,

Thanks for the help. Entering the first two or three digits of the chart number reduces the size of the list dramatically.

Your lucky you have only two corrupted. For the second time in six months both my iMac and MBP have decided that 'no charts' exist... at least that is what Chart Manager says.... I assume corrupted preference files again!

I have purchased several sets of CHS Raster charts to use in MacENC. None appear to be functioning now when I am in MacENC. In my Chart Manager Window, I have more than 10 folders showing and I am unable to remove any of them using the link "Remove." Can you help? I think I need to remove all my chart folders in Chart manager and begin anew. How do I do this? If this is not the correct strategy, can someone suggest what I need to do? Thanks, in advance.

The "Remove" button in the MacENC Chart Manager does work if you select the "Folder" object then select the "Remove" button. Selecting an individual chart will not work and is disabled.

A work-around would be to quit MacENC and delete the MacENCCharts.plist file in the home / Library / Preferences folder

CHS charts that come on a CHS or NDI CD must be registered before they will work..

If you have further trouble getting the charts to work, email us direct.
