Title: Monitor hardware on board
#2
I'm new to this site. Been using Macs for years. New to using it on the boat though. I can't reply to the poll (I don't know what I did wrong when registering) but I use a laptop G4 15 inch with bluetooth GPS. I'm investigating the use of car monitors from Xenarc to create a cockpit screen. They're not waterproof but where I will be placing the screen (if I do it) it will be in a protected area (and if it gets ruined, at $350 I can get another one although I'm not planning on that to happen.) The brightness of the monitor seems to be there (350-400 cd/m2. I thought I even saw an 8 inch screen at 450 cd/m2).
Good Sailing to everyone. Good luck everyone in my neck of the woods in the Newport to Encinada race. Wish I was going. Ron
