I have the plastic case, it is awesome for carrying around, but to leave on desk to display instruments, the hard case would be better.

I have sent them an email because they do not seem to be on sale anywhere online or anywhere near me (downunder)

Here is a better link to the same page, for a waterproof soft rubber DryPak, for iPads. You can use the touchscreen through the case. www.IndepthNavigation.com

It has been making the rounds on some of tech blogs that DryCase has introduced one of their vacuum packed watertight bags to fit the iPad. Pricey at $60, but looks like a nice design.

From where comes the first one? Who is the builder, what are the tech specs? I had not found details about this product.

Short answer: we ship the waterproof IPad cases from Canada but the lower cost model is manufactured in Asia as most products now a days and the higher cost, more rugged one is made in Germany.

The fit both the original IPad and the new IPad2.

I have been using the "Survivor" case from Griffin Technology. Not submersible, but water resistant upto 7" in an hour. Built to some military spec, all I know is that it has been kicked, dropped, splashed and spilled on and kept the iPad safe and continues to do so. Joel

There are some really good waterproof iPad case options for those interested in using the iPad as a navigation device. One particularly attractive option is the DryCASE waterproof iPad case, which provides waterproof protection in a vacuum seal.

And for mounting the iPad on the boat, RAM Mounting Systems has a couple of options. One you can use on the circular rails on your boat is the RAM U-Bolt Rail Mount for Apple iPad.

I have also come across case called iLoc for the iPad. It's under 3 bucks and protects your iPad from water, sand, snow, dust etc. It's a great buy for protecting your expensive iPad. You can find it at http://www.iLocStore.com

Yet another one!

LifeJacket

Lifejacket is the only MIL Spec waterproof iPad case that is available for around $99. The aluminum bracket sold as a complement to this case is $49. Fugawi sells both of these for $140, but charges $33 to ship from Canada (at least to my location in the US).

I have been researching a number of these cases. The LifeProof Nuud appears to be better than most cases and costs about $75. The LifeProof appears to be difficult to seal your iPad. Effective technique comes sometimes only after several hours of practice and testing. Easy removal of the iPad also does not appear to be a part of the LifeProof design.

I think I will spring for the Lifejacket based on ease of use in sealing and removing the iPad, plus the MIL Spec. The bracket seems too expensive for just a U shaped chunk of aluminum.
