I have a Garmin GPSMap 172c and spent some time converting the garmin maps to OSX. I called Garmin to find out why base camp wont recognize my data card. Garmin stated that they dont have a driver for these legacy systems. Crap. Without running boot camp and windows.....can I get MacENC data to my Garmin 172c easily?
thanks

Yes you should be able to transfer waypoints, routes, and tracks with MacENC a couple of ways:
Directly with MacENC using "Transfer "To GPS..." on the "Waypoints" or "Routes" menu. Make sure Type is set to Garmin and the USB to Serial Adapter port is selected in the GPS panel Settings drawer. Make sure you switch your Garmin from NMEA to Garmin mode.
Or export waypoints or routes to GPX format via "Transfer" "To GPX" file and use the free LoadMyTracks application ..

In both cases your Mac will need to be connected directly to your Garmin GPS.

The garmin 172c uses a data card and data card reader to connect to a computer. I have never connected it directly to my computer.
Will MacEnc or Load my tracks recognize my card reader?
Thanks

You might be able to convert the GPX format that MacENC can export into a format the Garmin data card will accept with the free GPSBabel..
