Title: Vessel/Yacht Management Software for Mac
#1
Anyone recommend a good vessel/yacht management application for the Mac? Something easy to use and inexpensive like First Mate Yacht Management - http://www.first-mate-software.com. It has:
- yacht Info
- Vendors
- Tasks
- Maintenance
- Inventory
- Fuel Log
- Captains log.

Hi Ehde,

This is gmonacelli's reply to his original post above.

BoatLogix Go runs on both Mac OS X 10.6.5 and iOS 4.2.1

I am using Bento for all sorts of these tasks. It is extremely flexible and supports separate databases for. e.g. home inventory, etc. So the modest investment in Bento would be good wider than just the boat.

But if you want to run a Windows only management system, note that I have had considerable success running a variety of quite complex PC-only programs under CodeWeaver's CrossOver - which does not involve installing Windows. Just about anything seems to run unless it has a very complex installation or accesses special hardware. If you want to read NMEA data directly into a log program you might have some work to do.

Hi ,
I am using an amazing application called MVM. It is an online CLOUD web based and has different modules. I use it for managing commercial operating yachts.
You can see what they offer on www.mvmsystem.com
To operate on Mac i needed a .net environment and installed on a partition Windows OS. Works great!!

I am giving BoatLogix a try - at home. I can't find any website/documentation beyond the minimal built-in help file. Is that it?

I have found that BoatLogix picks up fix and speed/course info from MacENC, which is great. It also looks to log other useful data like wind, battery levels etc. Where does it get that data from? In my case the data is on the NMEA2000 network and potentially available to MacENC, but as MacENC does not process or display this information (?) I am unsure whether it will make it available to BoatLogix? What's the score here?

Also I read of the iPhone version but cannot find it in the iTunes store - only something called ShipsLog, which does not look related.

Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

BoatLogix picks up the following from MacENC:
Latitude, Longitude, COG, SOG, Heading, Speed (through water); Depth; Temperature (water); Apparent Wind Angle, Apparent Wind Speed, Note.
Obviously, you need the appropriate instruments onboard and connect the Instruments in the Instruments menu as well as the Track menu.
Check the MacENC help for information on connecting NMEA 2000 instruments (Actisense )

Other data like battery levels, etc. may be entered manually. If you have a WiFi link to your NMEA 2000 network for these, BoatLogix may be able to capture them as well. Please send me an email (my email address is on the support page).

The iPhone version, BoatLogix Go, is available here:

It requires FileMaker Go for the iPhone from the iTunes App store. BoatLogix Go also runs on the Mac and does not require a FileMaker license on this platform.
