Title: Newbie
#1
Hi. I am a bluewater cruiser with boat currently in Australia. I am new to this forum but have just ordered my first Mac.(macbook pro 13in) I am wondering where to look for good software I can use.

Amongst other things I will need a new Grib file reader. I used to use Ugrib on my old PC but I don't think that there is a Mac version. I normally download the grib files via Iridium.

Looking forward to learning to use the new toy and hoping it will do the job for me.

Welcome Richard,

I switched from PC/Vista to MacBook last year, and did quick a bit of searching for affordable but functional software:
1) Navigation - MacENC; interfaces with Saildocs for GRIB
2) Maps - xTraverse
3) Tides/Weather - Mr. Tides 3; Saildocs
4) Yacht Management - BoatLogix (Developer found on this site; user name Jade). Great functionality and interfaces with MacEnc.

Let me know what you find in other areas than those listed above.
