Title: Re-installing Prolific PL-2303
#1
I need to re-install the usb-serial driver for a Globalsat BU-353 antenna. Using the download from GPSNavX the installer complains that I cannot install v. 1.21 on my disk because a "newer version exists on the disk".

I've been through /System/Library/Receipts and there is nothing there; unloaded and removed the .kext file in Extensions; removed all versions of the driver from my HD - restarted, no joy.

Anyone have pointers about how to override or fix this?

Nothing wrong with using the new version. Recommend you install this one..

Be sure to do this first though

1) Quit GPSNavX or MacENC

2) Disconnect the BU-353

3) Install driver

4) Restart Mac

5) Plug in BU-353

6) Restart GPSNavX or MacENC

Do note in the above steps you must download the zip, then double-click the "PL2303_1.4.0.dmg" to get to the actual installer which you must launch.

Yes, got those steps OK. I was using 1.2.1 as that is the one that downloads from your site.

Any idea what that error message means?

Many thanks,
