Hello,
Is there a way to turn off the range rings in Polar Navy or are they always on when connected to a GPS?

You can turn "radar rings" off.
- Open Preferences dialog->Ship & AIS panel
- Un-check checkbox for "Show position circles".

One note wrt. to this issue. The current release of PolarView has a bug related to this. In trial mode "radar ring" and other ship related rendering settings will not be saved and will be reset to defaults when PolarView is restarted.
This does not affect licensed versions of PolarView. I expect to have an update that will address this issue in about 2 weeks (tentatively, early March).
