I was recently looking for a decent blogging application for my iPhone to keep my sailing blogs up2date while offshore.

The requirements include posting of text and photos and keep a tracking map, so my friends and family at home can follow my progress. I stumbled upon a nice solution, that doesn't require you to install an app.

The IPhone 3G as capable of geotagging your photos by using the internal GPS receiver. The TripSailor site ( http://www.tripsailor.com ) allows you to update your sailing blog via email. That's not so special, but one feature is quite interesting for us IPhone owners. The site analyses the geotags in the photos and draws your route on a Google map

What's really cool about the IPhone - you can write your email if your not connected to the internet. It will keep your emails in the outbox. As soon as you're back in the harbor or somewhere nearshore where you have internet connection it will send the emails and update your blog.

Is there any way to get the Rate of Turn information that is in the AIS stream to be shown in MacENC "more info".

Many of us were happy to learn this week that iPhone users will now be able to use the wi-fi at all AT&T hot spots via our iPhones, but we can't use our Mac computers. The only way to access the free wi-fi with the computer is via their Communications Manager software "Laptop Connect" and there is no Mac version.

Check out my site "WE WANT OUR WI-FI" and email the AT&T president and CEO, Frank de la Vega. I got a phone call back from an assistant within 3 hours of sending the email, but her message was "AT&T doesn't support Macs."

I use GPS Nav X with great success, but as a backup does anyone know of a sight reduction software package for the Mac?

Anyone seen the same issue? I have a GPS 76S connected via a USB based Keyspan serial port to a Mac Pro. If I select NMEA mode in Garmin I get data in MacENC correctly. However whenever I select Garmin mode I get no data in MacENC. However if I then ask for GPS Info, it requests Garmin mode and I get the correct device and software version after switching to Garmin mode.

Any way to get Garmin device to talk to MacEnc over Garmin mode rather than have to keep switching to NMEA mode?

Clearly program can talk in both modes and I can get GPSConnect to get map GPS location data in Garmin mode on 76S.

Can MacEnc support Garmin proprietary mode or NMEA mode only?

I share a MacBook with my wife. We both want to access Mr. Tides from our own account. However, I can only get it to run on my account. To over come this, I installed another copy in her personal directory (not Applications).

What am I missing. Shouldn't one installation in the Applications directory run from both accounts?

OK, that time of year where I always get messed up. Still haven't figured if I leap forward or backwards :crazy:

I need to get a tow tomorrow, and currents will be critical. Today is daylight savings time, tomorrow is not. So... If I TODAY look at currents in Mr. Tides for TOMORROW (specifically Limestone Point) is the slack tide time shown for tomorrow standard or daylight time? My Mac's clock, of course, is showing daylight today but will switch to standard time tomorrow...
