has introduced an AIS receiver for use with laptops.

It's called AIS-2-USB (it exits as AIS-2-NMEA version too) and fits via an USB cable to your laptop. Power supply is assured via the USB connector. The AIS receiver switches between channel A and B.

The external antenna is being attached to the other connector. Ready! As simple as that!

One main advantage is that it can be used on any boat, with just a laptop. Only the antenna needs to be fixed somewhere!

just wondering if anyone has played with using an ipod touch to receive NMEA data via wifi. MacENC is broadcasting it. My onboard router will act as a server, I guess I could build a web page with all NMEA data displayed and browse to it from the ipod. It would also be really cool to controll the autopilot from the ipod. I have a Raymarine remote commander and it works fine but the ipod is way cooler. Any thoughts?

We are planning to go to the turquoise coast of Turkey this summer, and planning to experience either blue cruising on a Gulet boat, or sailing on a yacht charter to go to Bodrum and Gocek.

Has anybody done any of these before? How is daily life on a gulet boat? And how are the marinas along the turquoise coast?

Turquoisesail blogspot has very nice pictures and info, and we are looking forward to read the experiences.

Does anyone know if I can use MapManager on a Mac to download BlueCharts into a 60csx *without* using Windows?

I'm a bit confused now. On the MacENC site it says that it's compatible with Memory-Map. When I try to buy this particular set of charts Link , there is warning message saying:

Memory-Map map packages use a proprietary map format, these maps CAN NOT be used with other mapping products like OziExplorer, Fugawi etc. The maps are licensed to be used with the Memory-Map software only.

So what's the go here? Can I or can't I use them with MacENC??

I just bought MacENC, awesome application but you probably get that a lot.

When I display an ENC it shades areas with depth 5 feet or less as blue. This is helpful, but is it possible in MacENC as a preference or setting for me to change this to 8', the draft of my boat?

Maybe the contour is only provided for 5', 12', 20', ..., but it still might be a useful option.

I recently got my new MBP, installed MacENC and am getting ready to connect to my Garmin GPSMap 210 via a Keyspan USB Serial Adaptor (USA-19HS). I am not a techie and reading the documentation with the Keyspan is a bit confusing to me. Given the age of this Garmin, any reason to think it will not work with OS-X given that it is only sending/receiving NMEA data? It does have the necessary wires in the cable for NMEA out and in.
