Hi Friends!
We plan very long sailing passage, when every Ah important :-)
Do You have any idea how reduce MacBook Pro power consumption?
Yes we have solar and wind charger, but it still for 24x7 it not enough.
I test - if I remove battery it's reduce power for 1A, it's good, but may be anybody has another idea?
regards, Vladimir

several friends & i have been using mAIS -- MarineTraffic's app to report position information even when there are are no receiving stations nearby -- to keep track of each other's whereabouts. granted, mAIS requires an Internet connection, but around the bays and islands of Door County that's not an issue.
since MacENC has all the required reporting information, I wrote an AppeScript that runs on the mac and replicates the capabilities of mAIS, thus eliminatImg the need for an iPad/iPhone/android with mAIS.
I'd be happy to share the script with anyone interested.
[color:red]a caveat[/color], this script (as well as mAIS) is not a substitute for AIS and cannot be considered a safety mechanism. it's just a way for folks to keep track of each other's location.

Is it possible to set own ship dimensions so that it (an outline of the ship) will display when zoomed in? It would also need a facility for setting antenna offsets.
Target ship info is available via AIS?
I connect to AIS via wifi OK but seem to be missing some functionality?

Can anyone tell me the most cost effective way to connect a Standard Horizon GX2150 to GPS? I use an ipad running iNavX as my chartplotter. Can the GX2150 be connected to this or is there a GPS antenna such as the Garmin 18xLVC that can be directly connected to the GX2150?
Thanks,
Greg

Is there a way to rearrange the icons on the instrument banner so that I can keep those to which I refer to more frequently grouped together and onscreen so I don"t have to scroll across as much?
Thanks for a great app!

Dose anybody has experience transfer Tracks and WayPoints direct from MacENC to Garmin MFD (4008) connected by NMEA?
I try to use 2 NMEA ports or one but select mode by hand and etc
I try many time all as described in manuals - all waypoint from Garmin automatically transfer to MacENC and start Navigate To ... but not transfer to Garmin
It's not a big problem, but still interesting - why?
Now I save route to file, than put Garmin SD in cardreader and write it using HomePort
