Has anyone been using the above software? I have been trying to convert some scanned files to BSB. What happens is that after marking the lat/lon coordinates, the generated BSB is only about the upper left quarter of the original file. The rest is missing.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I just bought the Maptech BSB Charts for The Venezuelan coast down to the border of Brazil. Region 33

The registration went fine, but only the US numbered charts in the region show up to GPSnavX. All the charts are in the my chart folder but they dont show in the open chart dialog. These are BA charts. Any ideas

Can anyone tell me the power draw of a MacBook (operations only, not recharge)?
I'm shopping for an AIS receiver. The SR161 looks best but I will have to run 24-7 on my next passage so power draw is a big deal. NASA makes a unit called the "AIS Radar" (not a real radar) with an inferior receiver, but has it'a own processer and screen. Power draw for the AIS Radar is less than one amp on 12v DC.
I'd rather have the SR161 running through a MacBook, but am concerned that it will drain my batteries too much on the dusk to dawn watch.

The next versions of GPSNavX and MacENC will allow exporting tracks and waypoints to KML files which can be imported by Google Earth.

We'll be taking off on our sailboat in a few months for an extended cruise to the Bahamas. We'll be using our MacBook (and sometimes our iBook G3) while onboard. Will I have any problems trying to run them (or charge them) from my marine generator? Do I need some sort of surge protection? Also, has anyone heard when Mac will make a 12v adaptor for the new MacBooks (with the MagSafe cord)? Thanks!

Many sailors and passengers often shoot hundreds and more pictures during a sailing cruise. The big challenge after the journey is to catalogize these pictures and remembering the locations (on sea often difficult) the pictures were taken.
A remedy to this is writing down a logbook with GPS coordinates or buying a special GPS to be connected to a high tech cam (like some Nikon cam can do). The first way is laborous and the latter expensive.
Now comes the solution from Jeffrey J. Early in form of GPSPhotoLinker http://oregonstate.edu/~earlyj/gpsphotolinker/index.php .

This free application for OS X, just loads the EXIF data from your digital photos and combines it with the tracklog data of your GPS, by checking time and data of both files.
Et voilà, your pictures do have geo coordinates associated. With other geo progs (GoogleEarth, MapThePhoto) you can have great maps with the linked photos.
The recent version also works with RAW digital image data!
