iNavX is very impressive. I don't have an iPhone but am about to get an iPod Touch. Is is possible to use iNavX on an iPod Touch with locations provided by an external GPS receiver via BlueTooth?

If not now, is this feature being considered for a future version?

iNavX changes include:

- "Email Position" on the main menu will send an email with a link to display location

- Zoom range expanded to 200%

- Improved Port Search database

- Chart Orientation Indicator shown in lower left hand corner of Chart view

I have tried and enjoyed the demo of Mac ENC BUT I could not find any way of getting the saved way points into my new Garmin 520.

In the windows platform I can save the waypoints as GPX files BUT you must pass them through garmin's Trip and waypoint manager in order to "Garminize" them.

With Mac ENC you cant do that because there is no Mac version of Trip and waypoint.

I CAN garminize the waypoints effectively with Garmons "Road Track" But that program will not communicate with the Garmon 520.
I spoke to Garmn Tech support and they just laughed.

Has anyone had any success with this combination.

I am rather sorry i bought a Garmin.

I have seen several postings on this subject but they are a bit old.

I have been running MazSea for over 5 years on a Windows XP machine without serious issues. I have also been running it on an Intel Mac under Boot Camp for almost as long with no issues.

I have just installed parallels and have a problem. MaxSea will not open the charts. It cant find them. It searches and searches then hangs up.

I have it configured exactly the same way as on my old Windows machine and on the Boot Camp side of this intel Mac but under parallels it just searches and searches and finally hangs.

Ideas anyone?

From the Navagear site, comes this possibility. Is integration on this scale possible in some future version of MacENC?

Since all these systems are linked by the miracles of modern electronic data busses, why can't I have a simple option on my chartplotter (like I have with the autopilot "Go to” function) which says "Call” the MMSI that I have highlighted with my cursor or which has showed up as an alarm?

Seems to me that trying to input an MMSI by turning knobs and pressing buttons while driving a boat is defeating the object of a very good safety device. It's probably about as bad as texting while driving a car.

Sure, I can simply put out a "public” call on 16 or bridge-bridge but why not use DSC and cut down on "chatter”??

Why, indeed? It has occurred to me before that the next "killer app” for modern mariners will be seamless, intuitive integration of all this technology and all these navigation and communication protocols.

I didn't come up with this on my own, by the way, it just became obvious to me while reading Panbo, particularly this post from November 2007.

2 yrs ago I purchased Region 164 (Acapulco to SD) from Maptech, supposedly in BSB format. It is missing chart# 21020-1. (Manzanillo to Acapuco) in a usable format. Maptech has been no help.
Any leads on finding 21020-1?
The CD did have #21023 (Acapulco to Puerto Medero)

X-Traverse Uploader for Mac OS X (10.4 or 10.5) is a simple and free utility that allows GPX or KML files to be dropped on it. When a KML or GPX file is dropped on X-Traverse Uploader for Mac OS X it is uploaded using the "Account" settings to www.x-traverse.com. In addition any waypoint group in MacENC or GPSNavX can be dropped on X-Traverse for Mac OS X and it will be uploaded as "waypoints.gpx" or a Route as "route.gpx". Once waypoints are uploaded, they can be downloaded in the iNavX iPhone app.

I am a neophyte with marine electronics and need some basic help. I would like to use MacENC to integrate radar on our fine old wood boat. Can I buy a radar antenna and read the output on MacENC? Let's assume I will buy a Furuno antenna - will it work? and what do I need to do to make it work?

Would it be simpler, if not cheaper to spend the $5k to buy an integrated depth, chart-plotter and radar display with Furuno antennae?

does anyone still use their globalstar phone? i am going to be in the bahamas and when i was there last, 3 years ago, my globalstar worked great and that is what i used to download from ocens for email and weather, but i heard that globalstar is not really working well now. i don't want to waste the activation fee, and globalstar will not give a straight answer as to whether the service works there or not. any input?
