We are planning on getting one of the new intel macs, buy MacEnc, and get a new Pactor II modem (with III upgrades). Already have an Icom M802. I would appreciate any help and or advice re installing and or using the modem on the Ibook and linking it up to winlink/sailmail via bootcamp and running XP. I can't find anyone local with the expertise, so help, please. Thanks

I'm working on a version of Tides for the iPhone, but I've been turned down by the iPhone Dev Center so I can't get much help there. I have the SDK and I plan to get a version running on the iPhone simulator, but I have no way to get it onto a real iPhone nor a way to send it to Apple to put it on the iPhone Store (which is the only way to distribute iPhone applications). So you'll have to wait - how long I have no idea.

Pricing is going to be around $10 - $15. Yup, it actually costs me money to develop this so I'm going to have to charge for it. Sigh.

Looking for a downloadable chart of the above. Any leads?

I was using Maxsea v7 with OS9 on my G3 I Book.
I had to use Mapmedia charts 'cos I couldn't configure my ARCS charts.
More recently I've been using GPSNavX with Maptech charts on a G4Powerbook. The charting software is good but the Maptech charts are not brilliant.
I would like to try Passageplus on the IBook so I can use ARCS charts again but first I have to upgrade from OS10.1 to OS10.4.
How do I do this, the IBook will not read DVD's.
Help appreciated.

Is there a Dashboard Widget for Leopard? We used the Widget for Tiger all the time... but couldn't find a MrTides Widget on Apple's website or your own.

I have been able to run MaxSea on my macbook using Parallels, except that I am unable to read NMEA GPS data from my GPS unit to give real time vessel location on the chart. Has anyone been able to do this? If not, should I give up on Parallels and try another virtual PC software such as VMWare Fusion or Bootcamp? I have flirted with the idea of getting a dedicated PC notebook for the boat in moments of weakness.....

We're new members to the group, although we've had this site bookmarked for a couple of months now. There's a lot of information here, and while we've explored the forums (especially the OCENS announcement), we've still not found what we're looking for. Our apologies in advance if this information is already posted but we've missed it.

We're trying to find out what the compatibility is between Mac and Iridium, and what onboard communications (via the Internet) are available through the Mac. Any information would be appreciated!

We are currently running GPSnavX on an iBook G4 with a Garmin GPS130 and the NASA AIS engine. It all works okay but I can no longer send waypoints back to the GPS. I could do this before I added the AIS.

Therefore, I am thinking of adding a multiplexer to the system. Which one should I buy? Am I barking up the right tree?

I have been looking for an easier way to use MacENC and GPSNavX with my touchscreen.
Although 15 inch is large enough, touching the small buttons and menus is someytimes hard on crowded waters or rough seas.

I have been experimenting with a lot of utilities and iRed Lite does the trick.
I can now use my apple remote to control any shortcut, zoom in and out and have rastercharts and course up at the touch of a button.

Furthermore iRed Lite has an option to show a graphic OSD panel on screen with all the buttons programmed allowing me to use it even without the remote.
