I came across a post for a new weather forecasting website, PredictWind.com that provides 1km and 8km resolution GRIB files and web-based wind animations for most of the world. At the moment, they're running a free subscription trial until 2009.

Definitely worth a look..

iNavX has the ability to be a client to WiFi NMEA data. What that means is iNavX can repeat any NMEA data broadcast over a wireless network. For most that means running MacENC on a Mac or Coastal Explorer (or others) on a PC. The Mac or PC is interfaced to the NMEA instruments and is setup to serve the NMEA data from interfaced instrumentation.

On the otherhand if you don't want to have a PC or Mac aboard, but want to repeat NMEA data to iPhone or iPod running iNavX there is a solution..

Digi Connect Wi-SP

Connect your GPS or other NMEA instrumentation to the Digi Connect Wi-SP and now it's NMEA data is broadcast for iNavX to listen to. Or you could even bring the Mac or PC aboard to listen making for a completely wireless setup. All sorts of interesting combinations available.

The French company has just introduced a new DSC VHF with integrated AIS receiver.
Plus an external mobile phone like remote control which works up to 200 meters.

I haven't found an English site yet but it looks very promising.
The AIS data can be transferred to any device understanding NMEA streams.

Though I don't know if AIS is a dual band receiver?

The price is interesting too: 449 Euro but I've seen it for 379 Euro too.

Hi All !
Is there a way to "center" the vessel in an off set position on the chart?

I explain myself. If I steered 225 (T), in order to have maximum coverage on my screen it would be better if the own ship icon is in the right hand top corner of the screen and stay there. How can I do this ???

iNavX on the water acting as a remote to NMEA data via TCP/IP

Feature request:
When switching from marina wi-fi to ad-hoc wi-fi it is time consuming to go and find out the IP address of the host. If I quit MacENC and re-launch it it picks up the address in the NMEA over IP setup OK. Can a small button be added to that dialog that refreshes the host address? This will eliminate going to the network control panel or quitting/launching MacENC.

Smaller Memory foot print.

"Remove Tracks" on the main menu will erase the stored track history.

double-tapping on the position icon will originate and track the bearing / distance measurement on the current position.

The "Tides" Tab bar button will launch AyeTides using the current position as the origin for the station list.

Improved calculation of SOG and COG.

Location Manager will be turned off when iNavX exits to save battery life.

When charts are first displayed, they will be zoomed out.

I recently bought a Navman autopilot system.
I have connected it with my mac via a Miniplex Lite (USB).

I can read the compass info send out by the navman but my navman won't recognise goto MacENC data on the in port.

I have contacted the guys at shipmodul (miniplex) but all seems to be hooked up just right. I have tried every other possible hookup as well.

Does anybody have any suggestions to solve my problem?

Navman has 3 wire NMEA (common, in, out)

General hookup:
Nmea common + out wired to Miniplex in
Nmea in wired to Miniplex out


The Navman actuallly has one out and one in/out port.
in/out configured as in. Tried this port as out port and that works as well.
