Found this on Sailing Anarchy:
Quote:SA is not shy about its complete and total disdain for the Bush administration, in particular its disastrous Iraq invasion and badly failed "war on terror." Here's an example of what the some of the jackals at "Homeland Security" think fighting the "war on terror" is about. Think you'd be pretty happy having the goon squad board your nice boat, without your permission or approval, and nail it with a radio frequency identification tag, all in the name of "National Security?" I don't think so. What's next, tag your car? Your RV? Maybe your bike? How about they implant a chip in your forehead, you know, in order to keep you safe? This is a pathetic joke, a national embarrassment and an outrage that this is what the Bush government is up to. Maybe coming to a marina near you!

Sound emulation software vs modem

We are currently setting up an M802 ham radio in our boat and really don't want to spend the $1600CA to buy the pactor II modem (with III upgrades). No point in importing from the US as it is built in Germany and thus subject to duty. I have a hazy recollection of a Mac based sound/modem emulation programme, but don't remember the specifics. Does anyone know of this software?? Or anything that lets us bypass getting the Pactor. Ticks me off to have to pay more for the modem than the new ibook. Appreciate any help.

The Panbo blog describes an amazing collection of material to get all your manuals in PDF form, which many find easier to search, not to mention stow, plus a phenomenal collection of both NOAA (and Corp of Engineers) charts—every single one available, raster and vector—and the nautical publications made available by various government and state agencies as PDF's. Look at the Panbo blog link below for what else is mentioned.

Your enthusiasm may vary but I ordered the DVD set on the spot.

Customized Main Menu

Hello-
With the previous major version of Xcode I customized the main menu so MacENC could fit on my small touchscreen display. The menus were renamed to:
MacENC File Edit View Wpts Rts Tx GPS Inst AIS Wx Win ?
With the current version of Xcode I can't figure out how to accomplish this (I am not a developer to speak of). Is there any chance a variation of MacENC could be released with this modification? As it is, MacENC is unusable with a small touchscreen and a replacement is not an option at this point.
Thanks.

<http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/30/garmin-gets-official-with-its-nuvifone/>
Price and "sales partners" will be announced "in the future". Yeah...right.
I sure hope Garmin is better able to meet this software deadline, along with all the approvals, than it has been in meeting their release dates for Mac OSX software....(grin)....
I wonder if the iPhone update this year will do even better? We sure live in exciting hardware times.

Transfering routes to Raymarine C-80

Has anyone any experience transfering, via a CF card, a route created on GPSNavX to a Raymarine C-80?
The concept seem simple but GPSNavX has three options of transfer to files and I am not sure if any are compatible with the Raymarine system.
Any thoughts or experience?
Thank you
