I'm trying to identify the various sources for MacENC compatible charts for France, Spain, Portugal, the Med, trans-Atlantic, and the Caribbean. Several people have mentioned Chartworld and I'd like to compare sources and prices. Any suggestions?

Been out cruising to the Queen Charlottes and away for a while, but found a wireless buried on the west coast of Vancouver Island...

I've managed to get my SSB and Sailmail (via Parallels) working nicely since I left, but have one annoyance. When I boot Parallels, it comes up with a warning message something like "the USB hardware trying to connect to Parallels is already in use by another software; close that software and reboot" , referring to the USB Pactor Modem. If I reboot Parallels a few times the warning goes away and I'm connected. I cannot find any piece of software on the Mac that's trying to connect to the Pactor. As I finally get the Pactor connected to Parallels it's not critical, but is still an anoyance and shouldn't work that way. I've also missed a few critical weather fax broadcast trying to get the Pactor connnected to Parallels.

I have the BU-353 SIRFIII Water Proof USG GPS Receiver and MacENC software for navigation.

Is this WAAS satllite change a GPS firmware or a software issue? What if anything might I do if needed?

After a period of travelling I am now back programming again and have just released v1.4.3 of PassagePlus. It's a relatively minor update but addresses some requests that users had made:

Improvements to the Related Charts panel. The panel now shrinks to fit the window width where there is a large number of related charts (common for NZMariner users). Also added an option to filter Related Charts to those above a certain scale. Thus, very small scale charts (such as the World chart) that are unlikely to be needed often can be excluded to reduce clutter. The threshold scale can be set in Preferences. A button allows the full list to be shown whenever needed.

Chart Browser now works with NZMariner charts.

When measuring a bearing & distance, distance is now shown to 2 decimal places if less than 10M, 1dp if more.

For first time demo user, one of the demo charts is now automatically opened at first launch rather than leaving the user to work out how to do it.

My little old iBook's display is getting awfully dim and it's time for a new computer ... I use the Mac in my catamaran's very bright bridgedeck cabin, with GPSNavX always on.
Dumb question: which of the two MacBook/Pro available screens (glossy or matte) works "best" in such a bright setting? 8)

Just a quick note to say thanks for the latest update to my GPSNavX program.

We just made a five day passage from Norfolk, VA to Falmouth, ME and I was absolutely thrilled with your correction of a nagging problem with GPSNavX. The older versions had a tendency to lockout the GPS input everytime the computer put it self to sleep or simply crash the computer. Version 4.65 has fixed this by shutting off the GPS input before the computer goes to sleep. Now when you wake the computer up, you just have to go to GPS on the tool bar and select connect and you're immediately back on line.

For our trip I only had one computer crash that requirec a restart. Compare to the multiple failures under the older versions. Version 4.65 is a great fix!

MacENC has the ability to scroll the chart to just about any type of data (i.e. waypoint, ais target, GPS position). In MacENC 5.20 a "Scroll To" menu item is available on the context menu when you [control] click on the chart. You can then enter a lat/lon to have the chart scrolled to that position.

Last season we had GPS Nav X working fine connected to our Garmin GPS.

This year we have had the NASA AIS engine fitted. I am having no joy in connecting the GPS/AIS to my iBook. When I try to connect the connect the GPS data, nothing happens. When I try and connect the AIS, I get the message "Cannot Open Port....".

I only have one serial cable going into a Keyspan High Speed USB converter. I did not fit the new AIS myself so I cannot (at this stage) provide any details on how the installation was actually done.

Any help appreciated.

Hello Lovely software, by the way.

Got a used boat with a lot of Raymarine seatalk stuff - added RM C series chartplotter. If I plan a route on GPSnavX at home, and download route to a card - it seems as if the C series is unwilling to accept it - even though, it should be reading output from GPSnavX as "other" data. (is there a way to do this without the card transfer?)

I apologize in advance if you have already answered these questions. My Pismo Powerbook speaks to C Series through a Keyspan high speed adapter and a Raymarine muliplex seatalk/nmea box.

Everything working except transferring routes/waypoiints to the C series.

I kind of like the Raymarine stuff (because it was already on the boat! cheep!)
