will dsc hookup be possible in the future

It would be useful to be able to jot planning notes on charts, sort of like using little yellow stickies....you know, things like "Check out Charlie's Smokehouse", or "Ran Aground Here", or "There Be Dragons..."
Is this possible, other than scrawling desperately with the pen/crayon tool?

The new Mr. Tides 3 supports exporting the stations from the selected map to either a GPX or KML file. GPSNavX and MacENC can import either format file. A great feature.

Could this be the end of the Mac Mini? A popular solution for boats..

The Mini is a nice marine navigation solution to drive an external day light monitor.

I'm new to Mac and just purchased MacEnc. I started reading the help files in MacEnc and came across the AIS/Radar page. The next big project aboard the boat will be to replace the twenty year old Furuno 1800 radar. Can anyone suggest a brand/model radar that is known to output NMEA compatible data with this MacEnc feature? It would be great to have radar information on the chart, (and in the cockpit).

Can the output from the radar be sent to a multiplexer like the "Shipmodul, Miniplex 42-bt" and passed on to the computer via Bluetooth? I assume all data sent to the Miniplex must be sent at the same speed.

I have an E-80 on board and am about to do something to get NMEA data to the onboard Mac mini. Since the E-80 has an unused NMEA out, can I connect that to a 41 BT, or do I really need a multiplexer since the E-80 NMEA out sends (I think) all the data produced (wind, speed, GPS, etc.) and if not, what would convert NMEA to BT or USB.

Another question, I'd like to have the data broadcast over Bluetooth. If the data gets to my MAC mini via USB, (letting me use a miniplex lite if I do need a multiplexer) is there some software around that will allow the MAC to broadcast it over BT.

I have a little website to record my travels and let friends and family know where I am.

Having started with a dot on a map image I've progressed to a network link to Google earth.

An interested party simply sets up a Google Earth network link to this file

and my position is displayed on Google earth.

The KMZ file is very small (4kb) and uploading is no problem with regular internet access.

What I would like to do is to update my position at sea. I've been considering Iridium for a longer passage later this year and their phones and charges seem to be getting cheaper.

Can anyone point to a good Iridium supplier (I'm in Spain at the moment) and does anyone know about using Iridium to get online and upload/download files?

Hi all

System all Raymarine driving an Autohelm Tillerpilot 1000. I have an iBook G4 1Ghz. 1Gb RAM. 160Gb HD.

To be honest researching GPS for the Mac has been very confusing. The software it self is not the problem, but finding maps, always leads to a spiral that drags me to US based resourses.

I am based in the Philippines on British Admaralty Chart 4473 South Tannon Straight.

So looking at this purely in an availability of maps way, what reccomendations do you suggest.

My crusing areas are centered in the Philippines but include, Borneo, Sumartra, Java, Honk Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and Japan. Possibly as far as Darwin in Australia.

I am quite computer literate, especially on the Mac, but it appears to me the market is not yet global in it's reach. Are there any sites that give a beginers guide to this field?

I can understand that sales are driven by the popular US market, but I am hunting for the global aspect of GPS, that will allow me to finally rest my paper charts and Davis Mk III.

I've just fired up for a new season and noticed that my charts are displayed with the white portions looking distinctly grey.
Don't remember this before. Any reason?
