what I have todo, when I want to connect AIS to iNavX.
What hardware and or software is needed.

First scenario:
because I have a good look at the harbour I set it up at home and connect over internet.

Second scenario:
Or I put the reciever into the cockpit and connect directly.

The first solution is more charming because I can reach it even when i am not on board.

I thought I'd pass on some information I learned about the availability of Navionics Canadian Charts for use with the iNavX. I had noticed that Navionics was offering all their S.p.A. Gold series Canadian charts for download via the app store, but their equivalent XG series charts where not showing up for purchase on X-traverse. When I emailed Navionics about this they said, yes, they are coming, and I might want contact X-traverse for a time frame. X-traverse replied that, no, they are not coming, as they have had to suspend sales of Navionics products that contained Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS) data, and referred me to the CHS website if I had further questions.

So, for now, it looks like CHS has put the kibosh on the use of anything put their significantly more expensive raster charts (which are available on X-traverse) for use with iNavX.

The original connectors on the 378 and 478 were a joke. I broke 3 plugs in one year switching back and forth from the data cable to the cigarette plug adapted. Feed up with buying cables that Garmin would not replace even though they acknowledged the faulty design. I finally figured out a way to make a Y cable for both data and the cigarette plug power. Even the speaker works. Best part is that it costs less than a new cable.

Is there a way of sorting the waypoints in the waypoints window list? eg by name or lat or long.

Is there any way to set the default time that GPSnavx uses to GMT? It is a very bad idea to change the time settings on my mac, but we use gmt (zulu) underway, including sending position reports (via SPOT) and communicating (since the communicators are often in different time zones).

Also, is there a way to search these forums?

It's been over a month since the last release of PolarView. We've been hard at work making it slightly more useful.

A new "unofficial" release is currently available in download section on www.polarnavy.com. The release is primarily aimed at making PolarView a proper "chart planning" application.

Main new features include:
- Support for routes and waypoints (manager, visual editing)
- Great circle or rhumb line routing
- Distance/bearing measurement in true or magnetic degrees
- Import/export route and waypoint data to GPX and CSV files
- Improved chart scaling

We have also restored Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger) compatibility which was lost somewhere along the way

Because this release brings so much new functionality, you are pretty much guaranteed to encounter bugs. Please let us know - your feedback makes this product work! We hope to collect user reports and have a maintenance release out relatively soon.

With all the new functionality online help is still lacking. Until it is available, please consider this our own test of usability. Shift and Command keys, as well as right click "do things" Feedback on usability is particularly important to us.

AyeTides 1.52 is now available. Two big bugs were squashed, one involving crashing after adding favorites, and the other was a display glitch when Location Services were turned off, and you entered a location manually. Now you actually get results back that are visible!

Also, I now save the location you enter when searching manually, current stations have the correct units highlighted in the selection control, the scale updates when moving from day to day and the range changes, and the Nearest Station list shows an emptying-circle indicator for how long it will be until I give up and ask if you want to keep searching or not.

As I understand it, "waypoit arrival" is defined as arriving to a circle around the waypoint (red in my image). I'd like to see an option to instead define it as passing a line at half the intersecting angle (green line), as I think this can be more suitable in some cases.

Is this something to add to MacEnc/GPSNavX?

I just installed iNavX on my iPhone and it looks like a great product. I've downloaded a set of NOAA Lake Michigan charts and need to know the best way to keep these updated. So have a couple of questions.

1) How can I determine the version/date of a downloaded chart?

2) Do I have to go and download each chart again on a regular basis to ensure my set is up to date or is there an easier way?

Thanks for any help you can give. Looking forward to trying iNavX on the water this weekend.
